The wind gusts by, cool and crisp, autumn is in the air. All around are shades of red, orange, and yellow.
The smell of pumpkin and cinnamon sugar drafts by as the friendly chatter is periodically interrupted by rustling leaves. It is an early morning up on the bluff.
This is no ordinary bluff. This bluff and I go as far back as my early childhood memories. From pumpkin picking, caramel apples, tractor rides, and corn mazes - the fall harvest festival has begun.
Of most importance, two words, PUMPKIN DOUGHNUTS! Yes, a lot of places sell pumpkin doughnuts, but are they so wonderful that people wait in traffic for at least a hour and then stand in line for two hours? Oh yes, we are blessed!
This bluff and these family ran farms are where my love of autumn was born. There are an abundance of locations all across the U.S. that are perfect to visit during the fall.
To my complete astonishment, one list of the top 9 places to visit in the U.S. during the fall included Leavenworth, WA - which was featured in my last blog! Do not get me wrong, I am not astonished because it does not deserve to be on the list, it is an absolutely stunning village, it is amazing because you never expect somewhere so close to home to be featured.
