What is RFID and Why Should You Care?

June 06, 2018

There is nothing more frustrating then going through the tedious steps necessary when someone steals your payment information.  Unfortunately, in the world we live in today this is an increasing issue.  With technology comes both benefits and downfalls.

RFID stands for radio frequency identification.  This is not a break through in the field of technology, as this has been around for quite some time.  However, there have been identified areas within our day to day activities that this technology has benefited.  A few of these benefits include efficient border crossings for international travelers, collecting toll fares, and increasing security access.

At this point, you’re probably thinking, “Ok Olive, but what does this have to do with me?”  Well, I’m glad you asked!  RFID chips are now located within all of our U.S. passports if issued later than the mid-2000s, within some “touch and go” type credit cards and even “enhanced” driver’s licenses offered/required in certain states.  These RFID chips are always sending out signals for an electronic reader to capture.

Thus, we have arrived to the downfall portion.  Digital thieves now have the ability to get within a couple feet of your purse or wallet and receive your private information using an electronic reader.  The last thing that any of us needs is to have our overdue vacation interrupted or remembered for having our payment/identity information stolen.

At Travelbadger there are several RFID blocking products that can provide peace of mind for your next vacation.  Whether you go simple with RFID blocking credit card sleeves or you would prefers an executive RFID blocking traveler organizer, the decision is yours!

Do not let the nightmare of digital theft stand in the way of your next desired adventure.  Travel with confidence knowing that Travelbadger has anticipated your travel needs!

Until next time,

August 08, 2018

If you become curious enough, as I have, to google the origin of the bucket list, quick skimming mostly references The Bucket List film from 2007.  However, there is the odd outcast here and there saying that this originated from the phrase “kick the bucket” which claims to go as far back as the Middle Ages.

One of the biggest challenges with traveling is one you might not expect.  For most of us, we can primarily argue one of two excuses, not enough time or not enough money.  On the surface  this may seem to be the problem, however the true issue is we have not properly balanced our lives yet.
